Data Transformation

The Data Transformation facilities offered by ETL are unique in South Africa. Data extracted from legacy systems is usually of poor quality due to the lack of discipline and validation in the original data capture procedures. The integration of disparate systems into fully integrated modern IT environments has also resulted in poor data quality as not enough attention is given to the effect of merging multiple databases into a single new data mart or data warehouse.

ETL’s Data Transformation routines match client’s existing data against ETL’s comprehensive commercial activity files to locate the most recent information relating to companies and individuals in South Africa. The data is updated daily and over 30 million updates are processed against the files each month.

South African ID numbers are either added or validated during the process.

All individual consumer information is managed in a Virtual Data Warehouse providing access to the most comprehensive accumulation of consumer information in South Africa. It has as its base our National Address Dictionary, a file that we have been building for the past 15 years. All addresses have been validated against official sources.

ETL’s Virtual Data Warehouse system accesses data from a number of co-operative database owners who are authorised to share the data that they own in an attempt to maintain its accuracy.

ETL's data, through access to multiple data sources achieves the highest possible standard of accuracy. The data supplied to clients is in daily use and is accessed from the Virtual Data Warehouse continuously. The final output record therefore, is built from all of the most recent data available in the Virtual Data Warehouse including accurate ID numbers.

Whilst for obvious reasons the source of our data remains confidential we will vouch that all data supplied to our clients is owned either by ETL or by one or more of our various data contributors.
